& Grounds

Split rail fences accent our cabins which are shaded by tall
hardwoods
Rocking Chair Resort - 70 Acres of Ozark Forest!
Reverberant song bird melodies instead of honking horns. Cool towering oaks, hickory, and
pine instead of hot concrete, brick, and blacktop. Moist breezes bearing wildflower scent
instead of stagnant, rank air. Room to meander and day-dream. And no fear of crime. Its so
peaceful and refreshing. Walk your pet, jog, or watch nature from along our shady lanes
leading through the property. You'll find plenty of uncrowded space for mind, body, and
soul. And of course we also have the practical amenities that keep you comfortable.
Shower & Laundry House
When its time to do the wash, who wants to drive to town and hang out at some
hot, noisy Laundromat? Instead take a cool swim while washing clothes! Our coin-op laundry
is right next to the swimming pool and recreation hall. There's also a guest rest room
with showers in the laundry. Convenience is important. No need to go all the way
back to your cottage!

Outdoor Games & Playground
We have a new paved basketball court, swing set, toy animals, teeter-totter, and
horseshoes. We even have a field large enough for soccer or baseball. And there's plenty
of seating in the shade. Bring a book and keep a comfortable eye on the children while you
read. Our playground is illuminated so that everyone can enjoy the beautiful Ozark
evenings while at play on the playground. Mosquitoes? Very few in the Ozarks - you enjoy
your evenings in bug-free comfort!
On Site Store
We have an on site convenience store offering ice cream, snacks, beer, soda, ice,
fishing tackle, fishing licenses, basic groceries, T-shirts, hats, laundry detergents, and
gifts. The store is close to the pool and rec. hall so children can easily come over for a
snack or ice cream. Fishermen like the convenience of finding tackle they forgot in the
last-minute rush to get on the road.

The rec hall is next to the pool and laundry
Recreation Hall
Located right next to the Rocking Chair swimming pool is our air-conditioned
recreation hall. Play pool, ping-pong, and pin ball. Watch color cable TV (72 channels
including ESPN2), or play cards and board games. Want to stay cool and out of the sun
while your children swim? Take a seat in the rec. hall and watch out the window! The rec.
hall also makes a great place to meet friends and play games on rainy days, or for late
night card games.

Lake Norfork has excellent fishing. In fact, many
experts claim that Lake Norfork has the best fresh water striped bass fishing in America.
The average striper caught in Lake Norfork weighs about 11 pounds. Many exceed 25 pounds,
with a lake record of 48 pounds. However, you are not limited to fishing for stripers!
With the White River and the North Fork River just
minutes away, you can also fish for rainbow, brown, brook, and cutthroat trout. All-Tackle
and Line Class World Record brown, rainbow, brook, and cutthroat trout have been caught in
both rivers. We can arrange guided fishing trips for you with top-notch Lake Norfork
guides as well as guided trout fishing trips for the White River and North Fork River.
In all, you can fish for 21 different sport fish
species within 25 minutes of Rocking Chair. Lake Norfork has healthy populations of
walleye, largemouth, smallmouth, and Kentucky (spotted) bass. Lake Norfork has hundreds of
submerged fish attractors providing habitat to good populations of large crappie. There's
even a chance you'll catch the beautiful but rare Ozark bass, or an elusive shadow bass

Fishing is excellent all year round on Lake Norfork,
and there are no closed seasons. And since Rocking Chair is open all year, you'll never
need to wonder when you can fish and stay with us. Different seasons bring different
fishing conditions. Just tell us when you are coming and we'll advise on how to fish. Exploring Lake Norfork
David's Trail is a very unique hiking/biking
trail that meanders along the Corps Of Engineer shoreline and passes right here below
Rocking Chair Resort. David's Trail goes from Robinson Point all the way to the 101
bridge. Just minutes from Rocking Chair are more well maintained hiking/mountain biking
trails that lead around Lake Norfork to some impressive bluffs. The trails are not
difficult. They are a great way to spend a few hours exploring the Ozark terrain. If you
wish to go on an extended exploring trip, rent one of our pontoon boats and explore the
coves, creek arms, and shorelines from the water. Since the shoreline property is all
owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, it is public property. You can beach and
explore at will without worry over trespassing on private property. |
Area Attractions
Tour the ancient caverns at Bull Shoals Caverns. Visit the Norfork Dam Fish Hatchery, one
of the largest in the world. Go horseback riding at near-by stables. Shopping is less than
10 miles from the resort. Shop at many specialty retail, antique, or collector shops in
Mountain Home, which also has a large Wal-Mart 10 minutes from Rocking Chair. Bowl, go to
the movies, and dine out in Mountain Home or Bull Shoals. Both Mountain Home and Bull
Shoals have 18 hole golf courses, and miniature golf. Mountain Home has 23 churches. If
you want to take a fun day trip, Branson Missouri is only two hours away. If you need
things to do, there's plenty of action to choose from! Ask us and we'll help you plan. |
